Trainee in Practicum
Training program

At Heart in Balance, we are committed to upholding a standard of excellence and quality training that graduate programs require.  This includes a pathway to gaining required BBS hours, including supervision and training, during the one-year practicum. In addition, we offer the opportunity to apply for paid associate MFT positions post-graduation, providing continuity of care for existing clients.
 
Our office is in North Oakland, California.  Additionally, we have satellite offices across the Bay Area.  Heart in Balance has tastefully appointed therapy offices and waiting rooms. In addition to seeing clients at the North Oakland offices, trainees will have the opportunity to participate in our school-based program which provides mental health services to students at Bay Area schools.
 
Trainee Program Outline
  • Weekly 2-hour trainings
  • 1-hour individual supervision as needed (covers 5 clinical hours)
  • 1 - hour group supervision (covers 5 clinical hours)
  • Build case load to 10 clients
  • 225 required hours for graduation
    • Minimum of 150 Clinical hours
    • Up to 75 CCA hours
  • Time commitment - 20 hours week.
    • Supervision – Up to 3 hours
    • Trainings – 2 hours
    • Client Load – 10 hours
    • Administrative work – 5 hours

    • Sessions must be held in office – both in person or telehealth options.
 
The trainee practicum will be 15-20 hours/week once the caseload is full.
