How We workThe therapists at Heart in Balance largely utilize integrative approaches to psychotherapy, with the goal of bringing the intellectual, emotional, physical and spiritual aspects of a person into more healthy balance. We work with individuals, couples, and families, with the underlying belief that the unique and personal relationship which develops between the therapist and the client is what facilitates growth and change.
In addition to using traditional talk therapy, our therapists incorporate non-verbal and non-analytic perspectives in working with clients' concerns, including Yoga Therapy, Art & Play Therapy, Authentic Movement, EFT, Somatic Experiencing, Mindfulness, Hakomi, Diamond Heart, Journal Writing, and Dream Work. At Heart in Balance, we know that people are unique and complex, and we honor this by crafting individualized approaches with each client, ones that skillfully address their distinctiveness and particular life challenges. |
FoundationHeart in Balance Counseling and Training Center (HIB) was founded in 2004 by Patricia E. Craven and Mary Owens, in response to a need for a community-based, affordable integrative counseling and training center. The intention was to provide a training site for trainees and associates pursuing a psychotherapy license in California and intending to work in private practice. Over the years, HIB has grown from a counseling center to becoming a well-structured, multi-layered training center, for both pre-licensed and licensed therapists.
