Scherri began her path to becoming a therapist when she entered Cal State East Bay as an undergraduate. She received a BS in Industrial Organization Psychology. To express her desire to be of service she has been a volunteer individual grief counselor and led grief support groups with Contra Costa Crisis Center. As she served the community she decided to pursue her path to be a therapist and started a master’s degree program at JFK University in 2019.
Scherri knows it takes courage and strength to address situations that often create sadness, shame or feeling unloved and un-safe, in the world. She understands how it is even harder if one comes from a culture or community that does not support therapy as a way of addressing struggles in their life. Her understanding guides her work with clients. She brings the belief that pain happens when people internalize the outward experiences and attribute the negative aspects of those experiences to themselves.

Scherri approaches her work with a strong commitment to hear the client’s story and to use her curiosity and listening skills to help the client develop their own understanding of their process. She assists her client in learning ways to make the changes they want in their lives. Scherri has a warm, empathic and direct personality that allows people to feel supported and guided on their path to change. She utilizes an integrative approach pulling from a variety of theories and approaches to psychotherapy.
