Freyja is a collaborative therapist, meaning she works with clients to identify and strengthen the skills and abilities already within. She works with diverse families and couples and is curious and courageous, striving to both facilitate and learn alongside her clients. She assists clients in recognizing and building their own resiliency, get to know themselves better, and find ways to be present in their body. She brings humor and her own humanity into her work, striving to both challenge and support clients in their growth.
Freyja believes in finding transformation, strength, courage, and humor within those difficult times. Events can and do cause trauma, and what turns that trauma into pain and suffering is how we view and feel about these events. Being able to look at painful events and find strength, love, and resiliency there is where healing finds a home.
She practices cultural humility, this means she recognizes that it is impossible to know everything about anyone’s culture, and dedicates herself to continually learning, and is humbled by what she learns. As a cis-gender white woman, she is aware of her privileges and is consciously working to understand other ethnicities and cultural experiences. She does this both inside and outside the therapy room. |
Freyja explores many ways of working with clients in sessions. She uses Solution Focused techniques and is curious and optimistic with clients, identifying past methods that have worked in their own healing and finding future ways of problem solving. She brings in the emotional body, integrating our emotional self, thinking self, and present self. She might ask clients to be curious by using play, imagination, and move their bodies in new ways, and this is all a part of healing! She has experience working with behavioral disorders, personality disorders, autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, emotion regulation skills, recovery from sexual assault and drug use, crisis management. She has experience working with young children, teens, and families.
