Nicolle has recently graduated from a Clinical Psychology program at a local university. She decided to undertake this area of study after working with children for over ten years in the field of personal assistant, and before that, professional cheerleading. In this work, she found she enjoyed working with not only the children but their families. She discovered the complexity of addressing the stresses and challenges of life and wanted to have a larger impact on helping others in navigating their lives.
Nicolle approaches her work with clients by “following the client’s lead”. Thus, she decided to join Heart in Balance to learn an integrative approach that will give her the experience and skills to work with a myriad of clients and client’s issues. She works with clients to help them identify and address those areas in their life that are missing. She believes that current people’s unnecessary suffering is due to past traumas and past challenges. She focuses her work on both current day strategies and techniques to help address current moments and with a curiosity and directing of how past connections and events still impacts a client in today’s world.

Nicolle is a pretty direct person who engages clients with compassion and a deep interest in the individual. She utilizes pragmatic approaches, such as Solution Focused Therapy, along with a more in deep relationship perspective. She utilizes humor and metaphors to help a client better understand their narrative and how to work to change this narrative as a way of coping in the world. Being a Latina Cis-gender female, she knows that her experience in the world is impacted by this identity. She has worked with a variety of other people of color community members, and approaches her plan with clients holding deeply their identity and any social justice dynamics that affect them in addressing pain in their life.
