Miya is the Founder and Clinical Director of the Healing Spot Counseling Center. She is a retired Air Force veteran who has transitioned into the mental health field as a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and Professional Clinical Counselor in California. She has a Ph.D. in Counseling Education and Supervision from Regent University. Miya has taught master ’s-level courses in counseling and psychology programs in the United States and Ukraine. She is an Associate Professor at the California Institute of Integral Studies, where she has taught courses in psychological assessment, multicultural therapy, and marriage and family therapy.

Her expertise includes military issues, trauma, and multiculturalism in advocacy and education. Miya has held leadership positions in professional organizations, including serving as a member of the American Mental Health Counseling Association’s Counseling Compact Multicultural & Social Justice and Counseling Compact committees, and as past president of the East Bay Chapter of CAMFT. She has also served as a liaison to the Board of Behavioral Sciences for military members and their spouses, demonstrating her commitment to supporting the military community in mental health services. She sits on the board of Heart in Balance Counseling Center, which acts as a training site for interns, associates, and supervisors.
