“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I’ll meet you there.”--Rumi
Thomas enters into therapy with the commitment to help heal not only the individual but our culture. He believes that by meeting with individuals and helping them expand their awareness they will develop options for relating with self and others.
Assisting them to find ways to feel more comfortable in relationship through their bodies, thoughts and roles they play in community.
This way there can be ripple effects from the individual to those around them. His way of working is greatly influenced by his personal and professional life in the areas of environmental science, bodywork, chaplaincy and now as a psychotherapist with emphasis on Somatic Psychology.
Thomas’ personality is one of deep love, acceptance and trust in the other’s own process. He sees himself as a facilitator of his client’s innate strengths and utilizes a variety of techniques and therapeutic concepts to help the client move beyond areas of immobility that often causes them suffering in themselves and the world around them. He does this with a blend of passive, gentle, warm holding along with active, directive techniques to help the client fully engage in their experience. He utilizes Somatic Theory and awareness practices, Gestalt Therapy and Family Constellation Theory to bridge psychological, physical, spiritual and generational dynamics. Which in effect assists the shift culture.
Thomas has worked with and has interest in helping clients address the following issues:
Early Childhood Trauma
Identity Development (Gender, Sexual Orientation, Race)
Individualization from Family of Origin
Disease and Chronic Illnesses
Grief and Dying
Thomas currently has a Masters of Arts in Holistic Counseling, Somatic Specialization and is a Registered Marriage Family Therapist Associate. Also, holds a Masters of Divinity and has a history of working in Healthcare. He is Supervised by Patricia E. Craven, LMFT, SEP License#MFC24859
