Molly Bettencourt, MA
Registered Associate Marriage Family Therapist, #117495
"Your task is not to seek for love, but merely seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have build against it."--Rumi
Throughout her life, Molly has had a passion for understanding others. In her work with clients, she brings a deep respect for each person’s unique preferences and needs. Thus, her work with others involves using a variety of approaches and tools. A major tool is that of Expressive Arts Therapy. She sees the goal of therapy as not to “fix” but to discover the personality, learning style and strengths and challenges that makes each person unique. She uses creative arts as a healing tool to uncover the deeper messages within oneself.
Molly believes that pain is a natural reaction to many situations. However, she sees that often these responses (like anger, sadness, anxiety or confusion) can become overwhelming and a person gets stuck in a cycle or pattern that is no longer useful or intentional. As a therapist Molly approaches her work with clients in a holistic, mind-body oriented perspective. She utilizes compassion and warmth along with here-and-now mindfulness and curiosity to help clients reclaim their innate gifts and strengths.
Over the last few years Molly has worked with adolescents in schools and adults in both an outpatient agency and in-patient substance abuse and hospital settings. In these areas, she works consistently to create a safe supportive relationship with her clients so that they may co-create a plan for making deep changes in her client’s life.
Some of the following issues are one’s of interest and experience for Molly:
Self-esteem and Internal Critic
Stress and coping skills
Family Conflict and relationship challenges
Difficulties with impulsive behavior
